Still in its original 1806 building, the Portico Library celebrates both the historic and the contemporary culture of Manchester, welcoming the public, researchers and members to its unique 19th-century book collection and 21st-century events and exhibitions.

Perhaps you’re looking for a relaxing and creative way to spend an afternoon?Why not come along to help The Portico team conjure up a Folk Forest… out of none other than upcycled card!Join us for colour-washing, leaf-sticking and so much more!All levels of experience welcome.Suitable for ages 7+ Years upwards.The trees &amp; folk leaves you’ll be making will form part of our Folk Forest.‘Weird As Folk: Tall Tales from the Northwest’ exhibition will feature your contributions to the Folk Forest and will run from the main gallery space in the Portico Library from July until November 2024.Portico staff and volunteers will be the workshop hosts, and all materials will be provided.
