Overview

At Dusk, we gather as folk always have, drawing old magic from tales of the land, to honour the old ways and let new ones emerge.

Folklore Writing Group at Dusk

At Dusk, we gather as folk always have, drawing old magic from tales of the land, to honour the old ways and let new ones emerge.

Folklore is spiritually in our nature. We welcome you to gather for an evening of guided storytelling and gentle writing prompts, inspired by folklore.

Meet your host...

With a fondness of folklore and eagnerness to share stories, Helen will guide you through tales of the land and its people.

Helen is a published writer in an independent literary magazine, with the short essay, 'Folklore guiding me through grief.'

What to expect?

  • Creative warm up
  • Read of today's folklore
  • Writing prompts with the themes of the folklore, encouraging you to write a poem or your own lore
  • Free writing
  • A chance for you to share and chat.

This group is all about keeping the tradition alive by incorporating some of our own Lore into our writing practices whilst encouraging oral storytelling. Although, there is no pressure to write or share - this is a space to let creative flow happen naturally. If you’d rather doodle, read (there will be books for inspiration), or simply sit with a cuppa and chat, you are just as welcome.
