Fonda nights at Mabel
For 1 night only "Los Antojitos" will be serving a 3 course menu at Mabel in a homage to the classic Mexican fonda style restaurants.
Come and join us for a Mexican Fonda style meal at the wonderful Mabel.
A Fonda is a classic type of restaurant and dining concept you will find in Mexico. How can I describe a Fonda, quite simply I would say it is somewhere you get a 3 course meal, very quickly and for a good price. It is often made up of a soup, a main meal(often a stew with rice) and a dessert. But really the best description of what you will find in a Fonda is a delicious, home cooked style meal, hearty food, food made with love.
We've created a menu which is a homage to this wonderful concept. As is customary at a Fonda we'll kick things off with a soup, Sopa Azteca. For the main course you have the choice of;
- Pollo Encacahuatado - Chicken stewed in smooth sauce of peanuts and dried chillis.
- Longaniza in Salsa Morita - A Mexican pork sausage slowly cooked in a smoky, spicy sauce.
- Rajas in cream - Chile poblano peppers stewed in a cream sauce.
All the main courses will be served with rice, beans and tortillas.
A common dessert at a Fonda is a simple jelly. To close things off here we have something along those lines with an avocado leaf insfued Panna Cotta.
This will be a fixed seating from 8-10pm.
See you at the Fonda.
