Discover the joy of making something truly unique with your own two hands in this immersive footstool workshop at Roothless Design in Glasgow's South Side. Guided by an experienced tutor, you’ll learn basic upholstery skills while designing and building a modern footstool that perfectly reflects your taste and style.

Join me for a relaxed, hands-on workshop where you'll transform a handcrafted footstool base made by me in my workshop into a unique piece of furniture to treasure. You'll learn how to stain the wooden legs, apply upholstery techniques and finish your stool with your chosen fabric. No experience needed, beginners and seasoned makers are all welcome.

You'll have your own workstation with friendly one to one support throughout so you can learn confidently at your own pace. All tools and materials are provided (apart from your chosen cover fabric).

Stool sizes available:

• Small Footstool: L40cm x W30cm x H30cm - included in class fee

• Medium Footstool: L50cm x W40cm x H35cm - additional £20

• Large Footstool/Coffee Table: L60cm x W50cm x H40cm - additional £20

With a small group of up to 8 people, there’s plenty of space to learn, ask questions and get creative. Over this inspiring 3 hour session, we’ll cover:

• Upholstery Basics

• A short introduction to furniture history

• Preparing and handling the stool body

• Wood staining for the legs

• Staple fixing and fabric application

• Folding neatly around corners and legs

• Tips tailored to your project

• Tea, coffee and cake for a cosy creativity boost

Bonus treat

If you have fabric left over, we can run up a quick cushion cover to match your stool for free.

By the end of the workshop, you'll head home with new skills, a proud sense of achievement and your own beautiful upholstered footstool ready to sit proudly in your space.
