A hands-on foraging walk exploring the incredible diversity of funga and flora found in our local woods. Learn · Forage · Identify · Connect
Starting at Dizzy Dairy's farm at Dizzard, North Cornwall.
Whether you’re completely new to Foraging or already find yourself stopping to investigate every strange little fungus you come across, this workshop is an opportunity to slow down, look a little closer and learn how to understand what’s growing around us.
We’ll spend time out in the woods learning how to spot and identify plants and fungi, looking at the features that help distinguish different species, and exploring their fascinating roles within the woodland ecosystem. Along the way, we’ll share knowledge of local flora and fungi, and their traditional uses, as well as the principles of responsible and sustainable foraging.
What to Bring
Come prepared for the great British outdoors! The workshop will take place outside, so please dress for the weather, autumn can bring a little bit of everything.
We recommend:
- Warm, comfortable layers that you can add or remove as needed
- A waterproof jacket and trousers if rain is forecast
- Sturdy, waterproof footwear suitable for woodland and uneven ground
- A hat and anything else you might need to stay comfortable outdoors
- Water and a snack to keep you going
Please note: This workshop is focused on learning about identification, ecology and responsible foraging. As such we may not harvest anything if it can't be done ethically or sustainably. And of course, there are never any certainties in nature so who knows what we might find.
Disclaimer: Never eat anything unless you are completely certain of its identification and that it is safe to consume. If in doubt, leave it out. Don’t munch on a hunch.
