About this event

Forest Bathing is about experiencing the healing power of nature and remembering our innate connection to the natural world.

Your Forest Bathing experience will be facilitated by a certified guide, who will lead you at a slow walking pace along a safe trail into the ancient woodlands of Epping Forest.

Through a sequence of simple sensory activities specifically designed to help you reconnect to yourself and to the nature around you, you will be invited to explore the multitude of gifts that the forest has to offer. Depending on the season and the weather the session may also include invitations to participate in some simple nature art, journaling, or movement. (NB: All activities are completely optional.)

There will also be moments to share your experience with the group, invitations for mindful breathing and relaxation techniques to help ground your body and calm your mind, and time spent quietly immersing yourself in the magical splendour of the forest.

🌿Epping Forest offers a uniquely inspiring location - home to 55,000 ancient trees, and a forest floor with one of the widest varieties of fungi in Europe - and all only a 25-minute train ride from The City of London and 15 minutes from Hackney.🌿

Along with offering a regenerative pause outside of our busy modern lives - helping to build and enhance a profound sense of well-being for body, mind, and spirit - our Forest Bathing sessions also help participants access their innate and inter-dependent relationship with nature and support them in exploring their place in protecting and conserving the forest ecosystem.

Participants from previous Forest Bathing sessions at Epping Forest have shared that:

"At the end of the session, I felt very relaxed and peaceful. The mindfulness stayed with me as I returned to my car and gazed at the trees and passers-by, taking in details with a sense of contentment. This feeling remained for some time during the rest of the day."

"I really enjoyed the pace of the setting. It felt like nothing was rushed and everything went on just as long as it should. I couldn't believe how fast the time went! The sharing circles were a great opportunity to connect and reflect, and Susan provided a good secure base for us to all return to after taking part in all of the sensory activities."

"I really enjoyed each invitation, especially using the magnifying glasses to really begin to explore things found in the forest and this allowed me to tap into my sense of childhood awe and wonder."

Your guide will be Susan Kench, a certified Forest & Nature Bathing Guide and Director of Nature in Mind. Susan regularly guides Forest Bathing experiences in Epping Forest. She places the utmost priority on participants' comfort and safety and is certified in Outdoor First Aid.

NB: The group is capped at 10 people. The session will need 3+ people to go ahead.

Details of where to meet and what to bring will be provided on sign-up.

For adults (18+) only. Sorry, no pets.
