2h Forest bathing walk in Barnes Common
Forest Bathing is a mindfulness-based wellness practice, encouraging an immersive experience enabled by the presence of nature. One ‘bathes’ in the forest atmosphere by slowing down and engaging the senses.
It is not a form of therapy, although it can have outcomes such as a reduction of anxiety, stress, or depressive moods. Although there is a degree of physical activity, the emphasis is on connection, rather than exercise.
Although most of us enjoy and benefit from nature on our own, a trained guide can enable an experience of deeper connection with nature (and sometimes with ourselves). There is an array of techniques designed to make the participants transition more effortlessly from our everyday lives into a restorative experience in nature. It is also an opportunity to learn new ways of engaging with natural elements, many of which can be applied in our everyday lives.
Despite the structure I create for each walk, there is no right and wrong way of doing forest bathing. Enabling you to get in touch with your own needs and what resonates with you is also at the core of my practice.
Do you feel burned out, stressed, anxious, or want to improve your connection with life? Are you curious about new ways to improve your mental health, cognitive capacity? Do you want to try a different experience or are simply keen on deepening your engagement with nature? Then forest bathing is for you!
I am a certified forest bathing guide with the Forest Therapy Institute, an outdoor first aider, and a mental health first aider.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Waterproof clothes and footwear are advised in damp conditions. An open plastic bag or a mat are very useful to sit or lie in the ground, especially if it is wet.
Always bring one extra layer than you think you might need. Wind, clouds, or shady areas can cool us down, especially while being still. Feeling cold or damp will hinder the capacity to connect.
The walk will take place in all weather conditions, except for high winds or thunderstorms. You will get a full refund if the walk is cancelled due to adverse weather.
Unfortunately there are no public toilets nearby, so bear that in mind before booking.
