Come and join us for a relaxing and calming experience along the banks of the cascading and crystalline Alento river.

Forest Bathing is the holistic practice that originated in Japan in the 1980s as a way of finding peace and stillness within nature, far away from the overwhelm of the modern world. With numerous physiological and psychological benefits to health now rigorously backed by science, the practice has gained global popularity over the last 15-20 years. In many countries, Forest Bathing is even being prescribed by medics to aid in treatment and preventative health care.

Trained and certified by The Forest Bathing Institute (accredited by the Complementary Medical Association), Jacqui will walk you slowly for 1-2 km for about 2.5 hours, stopping regularly to gently guide you through a series of exercises designed to take you gradually deeper into your senses. You will feel the cool air on your skin as you follow the movement of the trees in the breeze, you will listen to the sounds of the river and feel it trickling through your fingers; you will smell the moist soil and maybe even catch the scent of fresh pine in the air.

Although we will be mainly in silence, without phones or distractions, there will be opportunities for sharing your experiences and connecting with the other participants should you wish. The session will naturally come to a peaceful and serene close with a guided meditation, generally lying down, under the canopy of trees.

Conducted in the English language, these sessions are perfect for anyone wishing to practice the language within a safe and caring environment.

Frequently asked questions

Is water involved?

There is no bathing in water. In some locations, we may sit by a stream to listen to and safely feel the water, but this, like all our exercises, are invitations and completely optional.

Where is the meeting point?

Full and exact information will be sent to you on registration, together with all relevant details

Can I bring my children?

Sorry, we can only accept adults of 18 years and over.

What should I wear?

You will be sent full information relevant to the time of year and location when you sign up, or on request. We always recommend that your clothing should allow you to be comfortable and move freely. We always recommend plenty o layers, even in the summer, as we will be moving slowly in the shade.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Forest Bathing is conducted in all weathers, but due to the unpredictable nature of the weather/conditions in this mountainous region, we may have to change the location of the event (or postpone) if we consider the conditions to be detrimental to your safety, comfort and enjoyment. See FAQ below.

Are refunds available on my ticket?

Yes, on 7 day's notice from you for any reason (less the Eventbrite fee); or if we consider it expedient to either postpone or change location should we believe the conditions to be detrimental to your safety, comfort and enjoyment.

I have mobility issues, will this be suitable for me?

For anyone with mobility/health issues please note that you may encounter some steep and slippery inclines and steps. Some of our routes also include a fording of the stream across stepping stones. Please contact me if you have any concerns.

What do I need to bring with me?

Full information will be sent to you, but you will need a yoga mat (or something to sit/lie on, ideally waterproof) drinks, snacks, maybe hiking poles and a rucksack to carry them in

Can I bring my dog?

Sorry, no dogs are allowed.

Organized by

We are Jacqui and Kevin Price, a husband and wife team, and have been running our small eco-campsite retreat in the Maiella National Park of Abruzzo since 2012. From our personal explorations and as hiking guides, we have a wealth of experience and an intimate knowledge of these hills and mountains.

Jacqui is a Forest Bathing+ Guide, trained and certified by The Forest Bathing Institute (accredited by the Complementary Medical Association). She is deeply conversant with the science behind the practice of Forest Bathing, is a mindfulness and meditation guide, and a mental health first aider. These combined skills and knowledge ensures that all our locations and programmes, will have been carefully selected and planned to provide the maximum benefits, to both mind and body, for all our participants.

Whichever session you join us on, you will be introduced to some truly beautiful parts of this still wild and untainted natural landscape within the Apennines of Abruzzo. Our aim is to gradually slow you right down, bringing your focus into your surroundings in such a way that you develop a deeper connection with nature. Focusing on nature in this way allows the mind to settle into stillness and the body to be at peace and to rest. Our groups are small, to a maximum of 10 participants, which means each person can enjoy their own space, or connect with others as they wish, forging friendships and sharing experiences.
