Christ Church Curator Organist Gerard Brooks plays a programme that explores the music of four of the baroque era’s greatest composers for the organ: Buxtehude, Bruhns, Böhm and, of course, Bach!
The internationally renowned Richard Bridge Organ was installed in Hawksmoor’s architectural masterpiece in 1735. Bridge was one of the leading craftsmen of the era and his masterpiece for Christ Church Spitalfields was the largest organ in England at the time fully encapsulating in both appearance and sound the musical culture of the Baroque.
Until it was fully restored in 2015, very few people had heard the brilliance of this instrument. With an exciting programme every season, you can now step back in time and hear this unique instrument for yourself.
