Learn to make jewellery and wearable accessories from deconstructed objects and waste materials, experimenting with the unexpected and exploring rage and fragility in crafts.Host Katy Mason says:"Fragile Rage is the name I have given to a series of my work that involves the process of harnessing overflow of anger and rage into violently deconstructing mundane everyday objects to expose the materials and components that make up their inner workings. These objects have included headphones and computer keyboards. The assemblage of overflow materials are curated into wearable accessories and pieces of jewellery.I make sculpture and accessories in conjunction with each other. I like that the pieces can sometimes be worn to show that anything can be; I think that the clothing aspect allows the trash to be elevated into forms of expression for everyone not just the artist. It is still stuff, yes. But to decorate ourselves is fun. Aesthetics for the body is fun. The question is what we are decorating with and why. How do we actually want to express ourselves? How do we actually want to decorate our bodies and can we get there without being told how?The process and space for developing authentic making skills is crucial. Fragile Rage is to encourage people to embrace the chaos; to experiment and take risks; and to find out something new and end up somewhere unexpected. Using play as the catalyst for losing pre conceived judgement on waste materials thus developing a craft and the confidence to sit with and experiment in the unknown."
