Event description

Description

A fun day exploring the various ways letters can be made with flexible 'pointed pen' nibs and the broad-edged calligraphy pen, led by Mark Brooks. The workshop will analyse historic hand-written letterforms and apply these principles to a modern day aesthetic, experimenting with expressive, less structured forms and also giving your own handwriting a new dynamic quality.

No previous experience necessary. All pens, inks and materials provided.

This event is part of a week of activities with the Lettering Arts Trust, around their free exhibition at the Geffrye Museum: 'How Do You Want To Be Remembered?', 8-12th May 2019 at the Geffrye Museum. The exhibition celebrates the art of letter carving and the power of the hand-made memorial.
