FREE Pottery Modelling Workshop
A playful and wonderfully creative air-dry clay workshop where you’ll design and sculpt your very own bespoke figurative vase.
Join sculptor Esther for Pottery Pals, a playful and wonderfully creative air-dry clay workshop where you’ll design and sculpt your very own bespoke figurative vase. Esther will guide you through the basics of crafting a realistic face — from choosing an inspiring reference photo to understanding proportions, building up key features, and bringing your
character’s personality to life. Using a clever armature built around a simple plastic cup, you’ll create a vase that’s both expressive and practical, perfect for dried flowers, pens, or as a unique keepsake.
You’ll also explore how to choose a colour palette that suits your character, and you’ll leave with the paints needed to finish your piece beautifully at home once the clay has fully dried. By the end of the session, you’ll have sculpted your own characterful figure and gained the skills to keep making lifelike caricatures of friends and family — maybe
even a whole collection! Perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike, this workshop blends imagination, technique and fun in a welcoming, hands-on session for all.
The Pass it on Project is organised by Community Clay Newham, commissioned by Culture Within Newhamand funded by Arts Council England.
