What happens when sound becomes a creative material?

Step inside Make Your Mark after hours for an immersive evening exploring the relationship between sound, scent, movement and visual art.

Guided by a live DJ soundscape, you’ll be invited to move through the gallery and respond intuitively as rhythm, texture and atmosphere shift around you. Paint, work with fabric, build with cardboard, experiment with mixed media or simply follow your senses and see where they take you.

Across the space, four sensory environments inspired by flora, water, urban landscapes and sunset will each offer their own scent, materials, atmosphere and creative possibilities. As the soundscape evolves, so can the way you make.

There is no set outcome, no need to arrive with an idea and absolutely no previous art experience needed. This is about experimentation rather than perfection. Follow a rhythm. Respond to a scent. Make a mark. Change direction. Pick up where somebody else left off.

Throughout the evening, individual responses will begin to overlap, interact and become part of something much bigger. What is created will remain within the gallery, adding another layer to the evolving collective artwork of Make Your Mark.

Sound becomes atmosphere. Atmosphere becomes response. Response becomes form.

18+ event. All creative experience levels are welcome. Materials will be provided.

About MAKE YOUR MARK

MAKE YOUR MARK is ArtHouse Jersey’s first Capital House Artist Takeover, created and hosted by The Stoodio. Beginning as a blank gallery, the exhibition will transform through the creativity of everyone who enters, with visitors invited to create, experiment and contribute to a growing collective artwork.

The exhibition will be open from 14 October to 8 November, 12pm to 6pm (closed Mondays).
