Part of the Connecting Communities project, funded by SEStran, these walks help parents and carers enjoy gentle exercise, fresh air, and meet other local families.

  • 👶 Open to parents, carers, and children in buggies or carriers
  • 🚶 Relaxed pace – we’ll walk up the Shawfair - Roslin path for about 30 minutes, then turn around, so it’s easy to find us if you join late
  • 🍼 Drop in anytime – booking is optional, but you can reserve a place if you like
  • 🤝 Chat with other parents and enjoy a sociable walk
  • ❌ No dogs allowed

Who can come?

Parents, carers, and children in buggies or carriers only.

Do I need to book in advance?

Not at all – just turn up! Booking helps us know who might come.

What if I’m running late or leaving early?

No problem – the out-and-back route makes it easy to join late or leave early.

What should I bring?

Comfortable shoes and clothing for you and your child(ren), water, snacks and your buggy or carrier.

What happens if it rains?

Walks usually go ahead in light rain – dress appropriately. Severe weather updates will be posted on our Facebook page. If you have booked through eventbrite I will send you an email.

Who is organising these rides?

They’re part of the Connecting Communities Project, funded by SEStran and delivered locally by Cycling UK.

How long / what route?

We’ll walk for around 30 minutes along the Cycle Shawfair path, then turn back to Millerhill. Total walk time about 1 hour.

What if I can’t make it after booking?

No problem – we just ask that you cancel your booking as soon as you can, so we know not to wait for you. You can do this via Eventbrite or by emailing me at kirsty.ryder@cyclinguk.org

Can I bring a friend or family member?

Yes – all adults accompanying children in buggies are welcome.

Is there parking / public transport?

Yes – parking is available at Millerhill Community Hub and it’s accessible by Lothian bus no 33. https://www.lothianbuses.com/timetable/?service_name=33
