Overview

From inspiration to publication: how I accidently became an author by Claire Fuller

Claire Fuller is the author of five novels translated into more than twenty languages. Her latest, The Memory of Animals was published in April 2023, and her previous, Unsettled Ground won the Costa Novel Award and was shortlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction. But she never thought she would be a writer, instead she came to Winchester School of Art to study Sculpture in the 1980s. This talk is about how she started writing fiction at 40, and at 48 had her first book published by Penguin. Claire will talk about her writing process, the inspiration for her books, and how they get published. And there will be a sneak preview of her next novel, Hunger and Thirst, the first to be set in Winchester.Instagram: @writerclairefuller Website: www.clairefuller.co.uk
