FRIENDS LECTURE
Overview
A reflection on how the ‘ English Garden’ has changed over the centuries. Moving from classical landscapes through Victorian decadence to modern planting schemes Gillian will discuss how the ideals of the ‘perfect’ garden have changed and are still developing today. There are also insights into where some of our most popular plants originated and the risks taken by the courageous plant hunters. Can some of the ideas that we see here be used in our own corners of paradise?
Gillian is an experienced horticultural speaker, writer and plantswoman. She belongs to the Professional Gardeners Guild and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture. She has a passion for garden history and is keen to share her enthusiasm with her audience.
The entry charge includes a cup of tea or coffee on arrival. The cost is £15.00.
