From Downton to Gatsby - fine jewellery lecture and valuations of jewellery
Lecture on the art of jewellery for cinema, expert appraisals of your own jewellery and watches, followed by drinks and canapes
Thursday 12th February 2026, valuations from 5pm, lecture 6pm, followed by drinks and canapes
Andrew Prince has had a passion for jewellery since he was a small child. Andrew’s career has spanned Bond Street fine jewellers, and contemporary design; and more recently he has been in high demand with bespoke commissions for private and commercial and museum clients including the V&A.
In August 1984, Andrew started work in London’s Bond Street, working for The Antiques Roadshow expert Ian Harris. Under his guidance, Andrew developed an appreciation for jewellery design and craftsmanship. He then joined the renowned contemporary jeweller Elizabeth Gage and worked with her on the design and production side.
In 2012, he was chosen by the creators of Downton Abbey to supply a large collection of jewellery for series. Jewellery and fashion are often seen as two distinct fields of design; this is very far from the case. Downton to Gatsby explores an extraordinary era when great couturiers collaborated with the finest of craftsmen to produce creations of outstanding quality and glittering opulence.
Jonathan Benson is an accomplished Auctioneer with a twenty year career in valuing fine art and antiques with renowned auctioneer, Reeman Dansie, who are also one of our generous corporate supporters. Prior to the lecture, Jono will be offering valuations on jewellery and watches – so please do bring yours along for an expert eye. You may have an undiscovered gem!
A drinks and canape reception will follow the lecture.
