Drowning in CSVs and tangled datasets? This workshop shows you how to tidy up, connect, and query your data with knowledge graphs. Learn how to organize complex information more effectively and build efficient, research-ready data structures for social science.

The workshop begins with a conceptual introduction:

  • What are knowledge graphs?
  • Why do they matter for social science research?

We will discuss how knowledge graphs provide a powerful framework for integrating diverse data sources, uncovering relationships, and enhancing the quality and transparency of research.

After setting the stage, participants will dive into a hands-on session. You will learn how to:

  • Build a simple knowledge graph from your own datasets (e.g., CSV files, Excel spreadsheets, relational databases).
  • Link your data to external sources.
  • Apply constraint checks to improve data quality and consistency.
  • Write and run basic Cypher queries to explore entities, edges, and patterns in your graph.

This in-person workshop emphasises practical application. By the end, you will have the basic skillset to design, construct, and query your own knowledge graph.
