With the new challenges we all face since the pandemic, it's more important than ever that collaboration is at the heart of leadership, system change and integration.

But how do we actually collaborate? And, crucially, how do we collaborate effectively?

We looked at the evidence base and existing high-performing collaborations. What we found was that while the purpose and activities can vary widely, successful collaborations consistently share a set of eight characteristics.

For it to be meaningful, collaboration needs to be planned and conducted with rigour.
