No pre-requisites are required for this course


This is an introductory session for academics who are interested in scholarship, are not sure what is involved. It looks first at what is meant by scholarly teaching, and how you can find and incorporate evidence from the literature and the practice the practice of others to inform your own approach to teaching. It then explores the relationship between scholarly teaching and scholarship, and how scholarship can be a useful means to investigate and further understand your own practice. It will also introduce you to the support that will be available through the Scholarly Career Development programme over the next academic year. There will also be opportunities to share your own areas of practice that you would like to examine in more detail, and to inform the on-going development of the programme.

To understand:

  • What is scholarly teaching and evidence-based practice
  • The relationship between scholarly teaching and scholarship
  • How scholarly teaching and scholarship can support curriculum development and your professional practice
