A virtual conference  on global surgery  during viral outbreaks

*** This virtual conference event is SOLD OUT, tickets are no longer available ***But you are welcome to watch the conference on Youtube Live through our channel: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXZyTCW4nzo" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">GASOC UK</a> The conference aims to educate students and trainees in the fields of surgery, anaesthesia and obstetrics with a shared passion for global surgery. We wish to highlight that global surgery is an essential component of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to improve healthcare needs during a viral outbreak. The main aim is to increase awareness of the lessons learnt during the outbreaks of Ebola, HIV and COVID-19 and how it has affected the management of surgical patients. A particular focus of the conference would be on safety, training, access to PPE, equity and hospital preparedness. RCSI Institute of Global Surgery and the G4 alliance are collaborating partners for the event. The day will be split into two, with didactic sessions followed by questions after each talk. The participants will then engage in a virtual ‘hackathon’ where a global surgery ‘problem’ will be posed, and delegates will work in groups to come up with potential ‘solutions’.
