Learn the why, when and how of winter pruning and caring for fruit trees in this hands on pruning workshop.
The workshop will be packed with practical tips for how to care for and prune your fruit trees to maximise their yield and health. You will learn why, when, and how to make your cuts and what tools to use and then get some practice in with guidance from our experienced fruit growers.
On our beautiful community site at Forest Farm Peace Garden we grow 90+ different varieties of fruit trees including apples, pears, quinces, medlars, mulberries, cherries and plums. There will be the chance to tour our fruit collection, and plenty of time for questions.
The workshop is suitable for beginners and those with more experience.
11am-1pm All the winter pruning basics plus a chance to prune a tree.
1pm-1.30pm Break.
1.30pm-3pm More time for hands-on practice, a garden tour of fruit trees, and plenty of time for questions.
If you have a pruning saw and secateurs, please bring this with you and wear sturdy footwear.
Hot drinks will be provided but please bring a packed lunch/snack.
Tickets are free, but donations are appreciated.
