Event description

Description

The University of East Anglia (UEA) invites you to attend the latest event in our AI series with the opportunity to hear from Andy Stanford-Clark - CTO at IBM UK, ‘Master Inventor’, and UEA alumnus.

The event, compered by Tim Robinson, COO at TechEast, will explore the opportunities presented by not only AI, but also the Internet of Things and technology more generally, and our panel, representing our region’s key sectors, will discuss the practical applications at the front end of business.

The panel includes:

Energy – Rob Bush, Operations Manager at EEEGR (East of England Energy Group)

Finance – Owen Morris, MD at Aviva Quantum (Aviva’s Global Data Science Practice)

HealthcareBen Meen, Project Manager at Norse Care

RetailRohit Chaturvedi, Head-Retail Practice, Sr. Program Manager for Business Transformation at Tech Mahindra

Water – Dr Vittoria Danino, Head of the Anglian Centre for Water Studies, Anglian Water

Also joining the panel is Prof Emma Griffin, from UEA’s School of History, providing perspective from her latest project ‘Living with Machines’, set to be one of the biggest humanities and science research initiatives ever in the UK. ‘Living with Machines’ takes a radical approach to collaboration, bringing together data scientists and software engineers from The Alan Turing Institute and curators from the British Library, as well as computational linguists, digital humanities scholars and historians to provide context to debates around the so-called ‘fourth industrial revolution’.

The evening will include a networking reception with food and drinks. Register here to confirm your attendance. We will send further details to confirmed attendees ahead of the event, but if you have any further questions don’t hesitate to email business@uea.ac.uk.

The event is kindly sponsored by EIRA (Enabling Innovation: Research to Application). EIRA is a collaborative project between seven universities and colleges in the East of England. It drives economic growth in the region by providing businesses with access to academic expertise, facilities and funding opportunities. Funded by Research England, EIRA offers support across three themes: digital creative, artificial intelligence and biotechnology. To find out more about the support available, visit www.eira.ac.uk, or contact UEA’s EIRA team eira@uea.ac.uk.
