Future Sound

People and talks from the cutting edge of music, bringing together experts from academia and the music industry to share insights, experience, knowledge and ideas. Includes presentations of research, keynotes and symposiums.
Activities will include the presentation of the latest research and papers, keynote speeches and symposiums comprised of experts discussing key topics including how music is made, obtained, consumed and monetised, along with its social and cultural significance.
The assembly of experts and industry professionals will include distinguished academics and researchers from the UK and overseas including Professor Michael Huber from 'Institute of Sociology of Music', journalist and author Owen Hatherley, esteemed academic and author Dr. Rupert Till, Professor Ewa Mazierska, Dr Niall Scott and Nicola Spokes, a leading music marketing and recording industry expert and, in her role as Marketing Director for Ministry of Sound Recordings, she has propelled many artists including London Grammar, Example, DJ Fresh, Wretch 32, Duke Dumont and Storm Queen, to name but a few.
Day One is dedicated to an academic agenda covering music as a broader subject area.  Day Two will open with keynote speaker Prof Michael Huber in the morning, followed by a session covering revenue streams and career opportunities in music and related areas. Tuesday afternoon will focus on current practice in the music industry but perhaps most significantly will see a panel of experts consider where things are heading.
