Sponsored by Emma Roddick MSP The twentieth century saw profound changes and contrasting developments in the use and status of Scots and Gaelic, both spoken and in print. University of Glasgow Marie Curie Fellow Dr Petra Johana Poncarová will discuss literary and historical connections and inspirations, and the role of new users, in the preservation and revitalisation of these languages up to the present day.Dr Petra Johana Poncarová is a Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Glasgow. She serves as secretary of the International Association for the Study of Scottish Literatures and is one of the co-directors of Ionad Eòghainn MhicLachlainn | National Centre for Gaelic Translation. Her monograph Derick Thomson and the Gaelic Revival was published by Edinburgh University Press in 2024.
