Game On: Studio Spotlight Panel

Payload Studios is an award-winning, independent games studio based in Farringdon, London. The studio was founded in 2013 by games industry veterans Russell Clarke and Vincent Scheurer, with a focus on community-centric creative sandbox games. The studio’s award-winning debut title, TerraTech, an open-world sandbox builder game, was self-funded, self-published and embodies the studio’s community-centric approach. The studio is currently working on TerraTech and new title, TerraTech Worlds.

Join us for the February Game On event as we chat to studio founders about their experiences in the industry and the games they've made.

For our next event we’re delighted to host a panel with indie studio founders, Lucy Dove (The Dangerous Kitchen) and Beidi Guo (Lantern Studio). We’ll be chatting to them about their experiences in the industry, their learnings from setting up their own studios and their views on the current state of the games industry. The panel will be followed by an audience Q&A and the chance to socalise with other attendees. The event aims to shine a spotlight on the work of some of the fantastic diverse founders working in the games industry. We hope you'll join us for an informative and fun evening! This event is part of our Game On series which takes the form of monthly events that focus on diversity and inclusion in the games industry. Lucy Dove | Director, The Dangerous KitchenLucy Dove is one of the three humans responsible for the creation of the Nintendo Switch game De Mambo. She started The Dangerous Kitchen, in a kitchen, with some fellow animators at university. Lucy and her colleagues released the obnoxious single-screen action platformer De Mambo worldwide in 2017, in the launch window of the console after being picked up by Nintendo of Japan. Over the last decade, Lucy has worked in various fields from illustration and motion graphics to web design and advertising, primarily in a freelance capacity to continue to ‘wing it’ and create strange and personality-focused games with The Dangerous Kitchen.Beidi Guo | Co-founder &amp; Visual Artist, Lantern StudioBeidi was born in Shanghai and now lives and works in London. She has spent 10 years working as a freelance illustrator/animator and has worked on a wide variety of projects from children’s books, TV commercials, music videos to comics.In 2016 she co-founded the Lantern Studio and fully committed to the development of their first game, LUNA The Shadow Dust.Lantern Studio's debut game is a fully hand painted point and click puzzle adventure. After four years in development the game launches on February 13th, 2020.
