Gazel

Gazel's music is a mystic blend of electronica with world and philosophical influences. Gazel is currently completing her debut album, Gazel’s Book of Souls, a concept album written from the perspective of eight characters that live in the subconscious mind. The team working on Gazel's Book of Souls includes Haydn Bendall (Kate Bush, Massive Attack), Shuta Shinoda (Ghostpoet, Hot Chip), and a series of supporting artwork by Acid Lake. Her blend of dark, lo-fi, lyrically rich songwriting has drawn comparisons to the likes of Cat Power, Joanna Newsom, Angel Olsen and more.  She has toured across the UK and Ireland including opening slots for Julien Baker, Joan As Police Woman, Adrian Crowley and Stella Donnelly, as well as appearances at Electric Picnic, Other Voices, HWCH and the London Antifolk Festival . She has released an EP (the Sugar Sea, 2016) and a string of singles over the last two years, and began 2018 with an Irish and UK tour to celebrate the release of new single 'Flowers', through London-based indie label Trapped Animal, which was highly praised by DIY Magazine, BBC Introducing, Nialler9, Hot Press and playlisted on UK and Irish radio and featured in Spotify's "Breath of Fresh Éire playlist. A new unreleased song 'The Wife of Michael Cleary' has already been covered by Lankum's Radie Peat and Choice music prize nominee Katie Kim, and the demo has been played on RTE Lyric FM.
