Event description

Description

As organisations prepare for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) this interactive workshop offers VODG members the opportunity to share and learn with peer organisations.

The GDPR will come into effect on the 25 May 2018 and will introduce significant data protection measures. This legislation will, in turn, result in new data protection commitments and accountabilities for organisations, including much greater responsibilities for all data processed within the social care and disability sectors.

It is important for all organisations to understand these changes, and to take action to evidence awareness and a commitment to achieving compliance. This workshop offers members the opportunity to share their progress and practice and to learn from others. We will use the time to break down the complexity of the new legislation and provide a common sense stepped approach on how members can achieve GDPR alignment.

Terms and conditions

VODG is a national charity that represents leading organisations who provide services and support to disabled people in ways that promote independence, choice and control. Our events provide an opportunity for members to come together, hear from sector leaders and contribute to debate and practice development.

The costs of the event is covered by subscriptions and other income. We offer a reasonable number of free places for each member organisation. Places are offered on a first come basis.

Refreshments are provided. Dietary and access requirements must be specified at least ten working days in advance of the event via email events.networks@vodg.org.uk.

In making a booking the following terms apply.

1. Registration is essential and will close ten working days before the event takes place. Cancellations should be made in writing to events.networks@vodg.org.uk.

2. Recovery charges apply for either failure to cancel (before ten working days of the event) or failure to attend - resulting in an invoice of £100 being raised (per person) and to be settled within 30 days.

3. Replacement delegates are allowable and must be received ten working days in advance of the event. No administrative charge is payable.

4. VODG reserves right to alter the programme and change the speakers without prior notice.

5. VODG may photograph, film or audio record proceedings. Delegates consent for their questions and comments from the floor to be included in briefing and media following the Chatham House rule.

6. Early registration is advisable. Please use an organisational email address for registrations (personal email account registrations are not allowed). When an event is over-subscribed we reserve the right to offer a wait list or to prioritise delegates based on the number of places each organisation has requested.

7. Please advise of access requirements to: events.networks@vodg.org.uk

8. Teams from VODG member organisations are welcome. There is one free place for each member and a small charge of £20 made for additional participants to cover the catering costs.
