To celebrate the first winner of our anti-prize, ‘Cemetery Boys’, we’re inviting you to a creative workshop around magic and gender!

As part of Book28’s Book Pride 2021 celebrations, the opening event of our July lineup is all about gender, magic, and the endless possibilities they allow us.To celebrate the first winner of our anti-prize, ‘Cemetery Boys’, we’re inviting you to take a page from Aiden Thomas’s book and get creative with YOUR idea of how gender and magic can work together! In ‘Cemetery Boys’, Yadriel’s magic recognizes his true self. What kind of connection do YOU envision? Maybe it’s stories of shapeshifting bodies and spirits, maybe it’s recognition for cultures that go beyond the binary, and maybe it’s something far from everything we know. What can magic do for your idea of gender? And what can gender contribute to your idea of magic?In this online workshop we will provide various prompts from various mediums for inspiration, and you will be invited to create whatever you want based on these prompts. Sharing your creation is encouraged, but not mandatory. Book your place now to receive the link to join!
