Gender Identity & Neurodivergence - a discussion of lived experiences

Join us for an hour's workshop where we will hear from Layla and Dana about their experiences of gender identity and neurodivergence. It will be a relaxed and informal session with plenty of opportunity to ask questions!

Hi! My name is Dana, I'm an Autistic/ADHD trans woman who works as an AI Infrastructure Engineer in Bristol. I've lived in the city for over 5 years, and spent a lot of my time with friends or reading. I'm passionate about building wider knowledge surrounding neurodivergence, supporting neurodivergent and trans/queer communities and advocating for the reform of neurodivergent and transgender care within the NHS.

Hey! I'm Layla - I'm a nonbinary, Bristolian, disabled, neurodivergent queer artist and space holder. I work as a Lived Experience Facilitator/Trainer and Creative Arts Therapy Facilitator. I'm determined to tackle misinformation, spread awareness of the various equalities communities I'm a part of, and to encourage honest, approachable and judgment free discussions around what can sometimes feel like difficult or awkward conversations.

This is an online event via zoom. Spaces are limited so booking is required.

Bristol Autism Support (BAS) is a registered charity (number 1186287) providing information, support and training for parents and carers of autistic children, with or without a diagnosis, in Bristol and the South West

    What we do:

    • We provide high quality face to face and virtual support and the latest correct and useful information to parents and carers of autistic individuals.
    • Bristol Autism Support are the Regional Hub for South West England for Autism Central.

In Bristol, BANES, North Somerset & South Gloucestershire

    • We create a wide range of opportunities for parents and carers of children with autism to connect with each other. Our strong community helps give parents and carers the knowledge needed to help them better support the children they look after.
    • We provide clear, relevant information about autism to parents and carers. By doing so, we hope to improve the futures and outcomes of autistic children. We use this website, our Facebook page and email to signpost information about local and national services and support. As much as possible, we share the voices of autistic adults because we know they are best placed to teach us about our children.
