Gender, Subjectivity, and "Everyday Health" in the Post-1945 World

About this Event
This conference explores the history of gender, selfhood, and health from multiple perspectives. It has four main aims: to examine how gender, alongside class, ‘race’, and sexuality, mediated experiences of health and wellbeing; to interrogate the reasons for differences in gendered experiences in different regions of the world; to critically assess the concept of ‘everyday health’; and to develop and share methodologies that allow us to write histories of subjectivity and embodiment from the bottom-up. You can view the full programme here: Gender, Subjectivity, and "Everyday Health" in the Post-1945 World
We are delighted that Professor Carol Tulloch (University of Arts London) will deliver a keynote lecture titled '...and breathe. Style narratives, composing a life and wellbeing'. In addition, Lu Williams of Grrrl Zine Fair will run drop-in zine-making sessions throughout the final day of the conference. Children are very welcome at the conference (the final programme booklet will include information on papers containing material that may be unsuitable for children). The Essex Business School is fully accessible - further information is available here. There is information on local hotels here .
