Register for Bryn Deri Primary's Dads Behaving Dadly Geocaching event which will take place on Wednesday the 28th of September. The event will begin at 5.30pm in the school hall.
The evening will provide you with an opportunity to search for hidden treasures (geocaches) using a GPS device or a mobile phone (using a geocaching app). You will be provided on the night with details of the coordinates of where the geocaches have been hidden. Your task is to enter the coordinates into your GPS/phone and then be guided by these devices to the geocaches (you will need to bring your own device; however, the school does have 3 GPS devices). It doesn't stop there.
The geocaches will contain questions to answer allowing you to solve a puzzle, however you will only be able to do this once all geocaches have been found.
You will work in your families with a GPS/mobile phone. The event will require teamwork, perseverance, navigation and direction skills, communication, reading and maths skills, but above all, it will provide you with enjoyment and a great opportunity to spend time with your children to see how they solve problems.
If you are using a mobile phone on the night, you will need to download a geocaching app. One that I use and find very good is c:geo. Please note that mobile phones aren't as accurate as GPS devices and therefore may not get you as close to the geocache, therefore a greater radius to search and maybe more rummaging and time to find it. Some may argue more fun.
There will be a maximum of 25 tickets available for the event. Each ticket will permit an adult plus children to the event. This is an outdoor event, if it is raining it will still go ahead, however please bring suitable clothing, wellies, water proofs, umbrellas.
If you have any questions, please feel free to come and ask.
