Using a mix of real and replica historical objects from the Museum’s handling collection, our workshops provide families with a hands on experience where they learn more about the history of the local area, develop new skills by having a go at arts and craft activities, and spend quality time together.In this workshop: Discover what life was like in Georgian Richmond and the amazing and unexpected story of Elizabeth, Dowager Duchess of Devonshire, who lived on Queen’s Road, Richmond. Have a go at creating your own simple cross stitch samplers and easy patchwork, just like they did in Georgian timesOur workshops are led by our Learning Officer, who has many years of experience of working with families and has an Enhanced DBS check.Workshops are aimed at children aged 5-11 years old. For children aged 11 and over, we can make the activities more challenging for them. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. When booking, please book places for adults as this lets us know how many chairs we need to put out for the workshop.Due to Covid-19 social distancing restrictions we are only admitting two families per workshop. Each family group will have a maximum of 5 people and work at a separate table from the other family group. Unfortunately the workshops will currently not be available to children under 5 who may find social distancing difficult.
