Get Work Ready - Your Next Steps

Are you leaving school this summer? Are you looking to enter the world of work or to start an apprenticeship? If so, we have created this opportunity for you!NB: Registration to this event is for the three day programme. For timings of individual sessions or to sign up for individual sessions, please read on.Get Work Ready - Your Next Steps is a virtual programme which connects pupils across Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian to employers. DYW’s industry partners will be facilitating six sessions as part of the programme, and there are three themes which guide the programme.Informed – On Day One young people will be introduced to an overview of the current employment landscape as well as develop an understanding of what employers are looking for when they’re recruiting young talent. Inspired - Day Two’s sessions will include a broad overview of companies’ recruitment and selection processes. They will also focus on preparing young people for their next steps, covering topics such as CV building, interview preparation and interview skills themselves. Hired - Day Three is about implementing the learning from the two previous days. Industry partners from different sectors will facilitate live mock interviews, offering constructive feedback and building confidence amongst those taking part. Additionally, Day Three will involve looking at real-life, live job and apprenticeship opportunities that young people can apply for. The DYW team will help young people to navigate those opportunities and provide helpful advice to the young people interested in applying to them.
