Bible Monthis an annual biblical literacy campaign within theMethodist Church UK, run in partnership withLWPTandPreach Magazine. It provides is an opportunity for churches and circuits to spend 30 days focused on a single biblical book and involves two key elementsA Study Guidedesigned to introduce people to the chosen book, and equip local preachers, worship leaders, children and youth workers, small group leaders and others with their exploration and delivery of Bible Month sessions in their churches and circuits.A Training Campaignspearheaded by the Methodist Church'sLearning Network, offering workshops, webinars, resources and forums for those wanting to engage more closely with the chosen book.For more information about Bible Month follow the links provided.

Come and hear from Dr John Moxon as he helps us to look deeper at Mark's Gospel.

In this talk, Dr John Moxon will share some recent thinking about Mark’s Gospel loosely organised around the theme of “disruption and reflection”. Mark is widely believed to be the earliest of our four gospels. It is certainly shorter, lacking several well-known narratives and large parts of Jesus’ teaching, but it also feels rougher at the edges, often unresolved and unworried by later orthodoxies. In recent years, the thought that we might be looking at the earliest attempt to put the Gospel story into writing, perhaps even performance, has brought Mark centre-stage and invests the sometimes baffled, occasionally angry responses of those encountering Jesus with an honesty and power that demand our attention.

Dr John Moxon is Principal Lecturer in Biblical Studies and the Head of Religion, Theology, Culture &amp; Philosophy at Roehampton University. He has previously taught biblical studies in the Selly Oak Colleges, Birmingham and the Assemblies of God training college in Nottinghamshire. John has studied variously at the universities of Cambridge, Oxford and Durham, as well as at Wycliffe Hall, All Nations Christian College and the Queens Foundation. His research interests include ancient dreams and visions, the Graeco-Roman intertexture of the NT and the Bible and mental health.
