This workshop offers an opportunity to ‘get started’ with coaching and mentoring, exploring the key skills and ideas.

When was the last time you were listened to really well?I mean, without interruption?Without judgement?Without someone telling you what to do and offering unsolicited advice?When were you last afforded that luxury? If you’re fortunate enough to be able to recall a time, go back to that conversation in your mind and remember the impact it had for you on your thinking, your feelings and your actions.What do you notice?This is the magic at the very heart of coaching and mentoring. We create that impact, that magic for others by choosing how we show up to conversations, how we choose to listen and what we choose to ask (and perhaps not ask). This workshop offers an opportunity to ‘get started’ with coaching and mentoring, exploring the key skills and ideas. It’s an interactive workshop where you’ll have chance to understand experientially what’s going on and why coaching and mentoring can have a powerful and positive impact on your relationships both at home and at work, on performance, on value and esteem and on learning and personal insight. This workshop is for you if you are:<ul><li>A member of LIEM staff – who wants to enhance your effectiveness and create impact for service users or take your first steps to becoming a coach or mentor</li><li>A LIEM Leader or Manager – who wants to develop others, build a great team and positively change behaviour and culture at work</li><li>A LIEM Facilitator, Teacher or Trainer – who wants to engage meaningfully with your students and inspire sustainable learning</li></ul> What we will cover<ul><li>What coaching and mentoring are (and are not)</li><li>How coaching and mentoring bring benefits to leaders, businesses and teams</li><li>The key elements of a coaching and mentoring approach</li><li>Examples of coaching and mentoring in practice</li><li>Questions and answers</li></ul> About Claire BradshawHi, I’m Claire and I’m a coach, coach trainer, coach supervisor and former librarian. I’m originally from the East Midlands (you’ll probably recognise my accent – not many people do!) and now live in the Northwest of England with my family. Much of my work happens from my garden workspace and outdoors.I trained as a librarian in Sheffield in 1997-1998 and have worked in public and health libraries. I trained as a coach 10 years ago and founded Claire Bradshaw Associates at a similar time, based on my long-held belief that transformation happens when we co-create a space for people to feel heard and where, with the gift of our unwavering attention, they can do their most powerful thinking.We live in a busy world, full of distraction and over-stimulation. Finding space to connect with yourself deeply as you make decisions and take your next steps is so valuable. Coaching and mentoring offer us a powerful way to do just that for each other.
