During this session we’ll introduce you to Git and GitHub and showcase how you can start to use these tools for collaborative work.Speakers:<ul><li>Amelia Edmondson-Stait – Research Fellow in Psychiatry, The University of Edinburgh</li><li>Jospeh Crispell – Data Scientist (Planning, Insights &amp; Analytics), University of Glasgow</li></ul>Speaker Bios:Amelia Edmondson-Stait – Research Fellow in Psychiatry, The University of EdinburghAmelia is a post-doc researcher at the University of Edinburgh, working on mental health research using big data and epidemiological methods. She taught herself to code during her PhD, mostly in R, python, SQL and bash shell scripting.During her PhD she set up a coding club for her research group to share coding tips and solve coding problems together in a supportive environment.She uses git and GitHub daily as a coding researcher, using these tools for version control, collaborating with colleagues, hosting code for research projects, R Shiny/Python Flask applications, and deploying websites via GitHub pages.Joseph Crispell – Data Scientist (Planning, Insights &amp; Analytics), University of GlasgowJoseph Crispell is a Data Scientist working in the University of Glasgow’s Planning, Insight &amp; Analytics (PIA) team as part of the University services, who joined in June 2023. Before PIA, Joseph worked as a Senior Data Scientist in the Office for National Statistics Data Science Campus helping to lead a team of data scientists working in International Development.
