Welcome to the Anatomy Café a new concept in getting to grips with the complexity of the human body.

Anatomy doesn’t have to be hard, boring, or confusing.

This introductory workshop is designed to give you the power and freedom to truly understand the human body in motion—without the outdated, rigid approach we’ve all endured in traditional anatomy lectures.

Through the lens of evolutionary, comparative, and developmental anatomy, you’ll learn:🔍 Why ‘anatomical position’ is the wrong starting point

💡 Quick, practical ways to understand muscle functions

🗣️ A clear, logical language to describe movement—no Latin required

This day is for anyone who’s tired of dry, textbook anatomy and ready to explore the body in a way that’s empowering, engaging, and actually makes sense.

No more memorising.

No more confusion.

Just movement, clarity, and real understanding.

This workshop is the first in an on-going series of unique 1-day workshops that give bite-sized exposure to the quickest and easiest ways to truly understand real-life movement.

Frequently asked questions

Who is this workshop for?

These events are ideal for any movement or manual therapist. Pilates teachers, Yoga teachers, personal trainers, massage and soft tissue therapists, chiropractors and osteopaths have all attended our events and come away with new and immediately usable information that enhances their practice.

What will I learn?

Let's face it, most of really struggle to explain the anatomy of normal, everyday movement. How would you like to be able to describe the common reactions that happen through the human body during ANY movement? It is almost a super power!!

How will each workshop progress?

We know anatomy lectures are probably the most painful and dull way to learn - we won't do that! We will show how the bones and muscles work together using some slides, models, movement explorations, palpation, and assessments. You will feel confident in your knowledge by the end of the day.

Homo sapiens is defined by our large brain and motor-intelligent nervous system.

By ratio to body size, humans have the largest brains of any animal and excel at a variety of movement patterns.

Our bodies have been honed for efficient movement – we are the only species that can walk, run, climb, swim, throw, jump and dance (though not always well).

However, we live in a world that is continually trying to find new ways of encouraging us to move less. We would rather walk our fingers across a keyboard than take our feet for a stroll in the park. We have lost connection with our bodies.

Over the years manual therapy has helped people ease their pain but it has also encouraged clients to think other people are responsible for their health. It is a very passive solution for a problem that has been caused by passivity and inactivity.

Here at Born to Move we approach problems caused by inactivity by being very active with it. We begin by understanding movement – what really happens in the body’s musculoskeletal system when it is actively engaged?

We give people the tools to help bodies function at their best.
