Sam Roberts gives a richly illustrated insight into the work and lives of sign painters in the London of the past
About this event
The onset of the global pandemic has allowed ghost signs aficionado Sam Roberts to reconnect with the topic that steered him into his work with signs, sign painters, and this history of both topics. In this richly illustrated talk, he will share some sneak previews of his research over the last six months in writing the book, 'Ghost Signs: A London Story.' This will include some of London's finest examples within the genre, and discussion of the craftspeople that produced these enduring relics of advertising past.
Sam Roberts loves painted signs and works to share this appreciation through research into their history (Ghostsigns) and promotion of their contemporary production (Better Letters). He lives with his wife and two daughters in Catalonia, Spain, but remains a Londoner at heart.
