About this event

  • 2 hours

M.R. James is played by Jonathan Goodwin, winner of the Dracula award, of Don't Go Into the Cellar - Victorian Theatre with Bite!

Known as the 'Shakespeare of the ghost story’, Montague Rhodes James (1862-1936), better known as M. R. James, summons the haunting aspects of the past. No other writer of the ghost story can scare as effectively and unnervingly as James. James began composing his ghost stories for a close circle of friends and colleagues at the University of Cambridge, where James worked as a medievalist scholar.

In this performance M.R. James will read a collection of his stories chosen by you the audience. Will it be Lost Hearts - where the ghosts of children missing their hearts roam or Count Magnus and the terrible revenge he casts on those who enter his tomb? You choose if you dare..............

Tickets on sale now. Performance to held in the (apparently haunted - Fright Nights, Essex March 2024) Great Dunmow Maltings. Best leave the light on for when you get home.........

If you are an Essex or Suffolk based artist or just looking for a venue to showcase your talent please get in touch. We have agreements with several smaller, high end venues to put on events.

We are always looking for new acts so if you have a talent to share get in touch via our Facebook page.
