Multilingualism and Neurodiversity Workshop

The Gib-Kat Research Group is a University of Cambridge based research group comprised of doctoral students, research assistants and associates led by Dr Jenny Gibson, Faculty of Education, and Dr Napoleon Katsos, Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages. Their research encompasses a variety of topics including language development, bilingualism and its relationship with neurodevelopment disorders, speech and language interventions and many others.

Gib-Kat Research Group

This workshop is an opportunity to learn both about on-going research within the Gib-Kat research group and in the wider field of language development. The workshop will feature talks from members of the research group and open panel discussions on the various fields of interest. We are excited to announce that Dr Bhismadev Chakrabarti will be giving the opening talk and the workshop will end by attending Dr Mikhail Kissine's talk on his work, as part of the termly Cambridge Linguistics Forum talks. 
The day will start with a talk by Dr Chakrabarti, on his work on multiculturalism and autism, followed by three separate discussion panels, in which members of the Gib-Kat research group will present on their work and offer opportunities for further discussion. The three sessions are thematic and will cover the following areas:
Session 1: Multilingual perspectives on autism
Session 2: Language perspectives on development
Session 3: Educational perspectives on language development and assessments
There will be ample opportunities for coffee and tea breaks during the day. A detailed schedule of the day will be made available to all registered attendees closer to the date of the workshop. 
We hope that by attending you will not only have to opportunity to engage in on-going research at the University of Cambridge, but also provide your own perspective on our research and bring novel and interesting insight to our work.
