Generation runs free training programmes for unemployed 18 – 29-year-olds. We prepare, support and place people into life-changing careers by connecting them with hiring employers.We partner with employers to develop role-specific training programs and recruit for them through bootcamps and apprenticeships. Get free resources to start your own coding projects right after the course, with video tutorials from our instructor Grace. This will be an introduction to Python or HTML, with videos and practical tips for you to try in your own timeAbout our speakers:Lola: She is an anti-cheesecake activist, writer, Web Developer Advocate at Samsung Internet and mother of blackgirl.tech, a non-profit aimed at helping to diversifying the tech industry with free workshops, scholarships and internships. She has two published poetry books, one of which was the Poetry Book Society's Autumn Pamphlet Choice in 2016. She has also been recognised for her work with blackgirl.tech, being listed as a one to watch by Code First Girls and nominated for Inspiring 50 UK, a list of inspiring women leaders in UK tech.Livia: After graduating in Fashion Design in Brazil, Livia moved to London to pursue a Masters in Fashion Buying. She worked in the field for a year before realising it wasn't for her and starting studying to become a developer. Livia's experience in the industry in these past 4 years of being a developer has been full of ups and downs, but amazing nonetheless.Denise: Denise complete the Tech Talent Accelerator programme and now works as a software developer apprentice at Westminster City Council. Her career started in retail, but through the programme was able to explore her passion in tech. Denise loves the fact that “through coding, I can impact the lives of people on a daily basis and that’s what I find most rewarding.”Verity: Having this year completed her Level 4 Apprenticeship with Multiverse in Software Engineering, Verity is now an Android Developer in the My Sky App team in Leeds. Prior to this, she completed her degree in French and Politics, worked for a political consultancy on tech policy in Brussels, and founded her own cybersecurity research institute in Bordeaux. Today at Sky, she particularly focuses on accessibility and building new UI and is also involved in multiple Diversity and Inclusion work streams.
