Celebrate International Women's Day by joining a global women’s march to demand the rights for all women!

Time: Meet at 1:00pm and set off at 1:30pmDate: 8th March 2020Where: We will convene outside of Embankment Station at the entrance of Victoria Embankment Gardens and go to the march together. The march will begin at Whitehall Place and end in Parliament Square. 25 years ago, leaders from around the world came together and passed the Beijing Platform for Action. This progressive blueprint was a ray of hope for half of the world’s population who had continually been robbed of their basic human rights.Yet, 25 years later, only some women have realised their rights. 25 years later, women still face violence and resist the constraints of economic and political inequality. 25 years later, women still bear the brunt of unpaid care work going unseen, unnoticed and unaccounted for. Because government action has failed and world leaders are yet to deliver on their promises, women are taking International Women’s Day back to its roots of protest. This year, women from around the world are engaging in a Women’s Global Strike and rallying in London to march in a movement for global gender equality.On International Women’s Day, we at Womankind Worldwide are joining the global strike, and we want you to join us. We are demanding a gender just world that acknowledges the work of women in all its forms.Through this strike, we will show “If women stop, the world stops.” Women perform 76% of all unpaid care work contributing billions of dollars to the economy, yet go unrecognised and uncompensated. From chores to childcare, domestic labour is not merely a domestic matter but is critical for the global economy to continue to function properly. This burden of unpaid care work only increases for marginalised women living in the Global South. Though some women have begun to realise their rights, some is not enough.This year, we are at a global turning point for women’s rights. Now, more than ever, women’s rights are being threatened by political turmoil and backlash against feminism. In this momentous year for women’s rights we will make our demands to world leaders clear. <h3>Join us as we march and demand governments follow through on promises made for women’s rights 25 years ago. Join us as we march and demand action for all, not some.</h3>
