The Deliberate Fires Summit 2026, hosted by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) in partnership with the International Association for Firesetting Intervention, Research & Education (IFIRE), is a two day international event bringing together leaders, practitioners, academics, and specialists from across fire and rescue services, policing, justice, health, education, probation, social care, community safety and VCFSE.

Trauma-informed practice when working with children who set fires
Joanna is an Oxbridge graduate and managing director of fabtic who has spent over 23 years specialising in child-set fires. Providing training, consultancy and supervision to organisations, Joanna also works directly with children and teenagers who set fires. In 2021 Joanna was awarded ‘Training Provider of the Year’ by the UK Fire and Excellence Emergency Awards, and her first book ‘Children and Teenagers Who Set Fires: Why they do it and how to help’ was published in 2020. She is currently co-editing a book on child and youth firesetting for Routledge publishers, which will be available in 2026.
