Gnome, duck and bird painting day drop in - for adults

Join us as we continue our support of Ynysowen Events and Socials with their 2025 fundraising venture.

To raise funds that will help support:

• The Annual Ynysowen Carnival
• The Annual Ynysowen Christmas Fayre
• Repair, refurbish and purchase of the festive street light we have in our community.

The finished pieces will be used for the fundraising drive. Therefore:

• You cannot take them home.
• Artwork must be of good quality and suitable for the fundraising drive.
• Taff Rocks will not be benefitting from the sale of these items.

2025 pieces handcast 3D pieces include, 140 pieces in total, made up of groups of:

• Two gnomes, different shape and slightly bigger than 2024.
• Three ducks, small, medium and large.
• One medium sized bird.

You don't have to paint all of these!

If, for whatever reason, you cannot complete a full pair of gnomes or your piece, do what you can as there will be other opportunities leading up to September to complete them, or others that have not been completed. Just do what you can to support Ynysowen Events & Socials.

If you feel you do not have the confidence to complete a piece or pieces with full decoration, even quality base colours will help, others can finish the decoration for you.

Drop in any time between 10am and 2pm, or stay the whole time!

Is this free to do?

Yes, Taff Rocks is supporting Ynysowen Events and Socials as much as possible. The hall costs are not being charged but any donation to help with utilitiy and refreshment costs will not be refused.

Refreshments will be provided. You are welcome to add something to the 'honesty box' for refreshments if you desire. This is not nessesary but we will not refuse.

Provided on the day will be:

• All paints, brushes and other equipment.
• Handcast plaster pieces made by a Taff Rocks volunteer.
• Aprons. We may not be able to provide everyone with an apron so please, don't wear your best clothes.

If you are concerned about getting paint on your clothing, perhaps painting isn't for you. Taff Rocks or Ynysowen Events and Socials are not responsible for any paint / damages to your clothing or other items.

Free mini duck or gnome for every participant or a duck, gnome or bird sticker.

At home artists.

We know some artists want to be involved but are unable to attend Smyrna for the free workshops, with this in mind, we are offering the opportunity to support from home. Artists must live in the Aberfan, Merthyr Vale or Mount Pleasant areas. Artists outside these areas, please message us.
