About this event

From Wednesday 20th March 2024 to Thursday 23rd May 2024, our Schools workshops will explore Matt Connor's works, and his upcoming exhibition at Goldsmiths CCA, Finding Aid.

Matt Connor's abstract paintings, drawings, and sculptures sensitively balance colour and form to create artworks that respond to architectural space and have a deep connection with art history. The exhibition, Finding Aid, will feature new and existing paintings by Connors, alongside works by invited artists that emphasise references used within his artworks that cross the fields of photography, music, printed matter, painting, and poetry.

We will be continuing our format of a two-part workshop. Schools are able to sign up for one, or both sessions.

Session 1: Delivered at your School. Students will be introduced to the works of Matt Connors, as well as various methods and processes of abstraction. Students will then be asked to pick from objects that they are drawn to and discuss their choice, before writing poems about their objects. Students will then create an abstract collage, with their objects as an inspiration point.

The workshops will be led by the CCA's Education Team.

First sessions are available from 2 - 3:30pm (90 minutes) Wednesdays. Second sessions are available from 9:45 - 11.15am (90 minutes) Thursdays. Alternative dates and times are available by special request. Workshops are free and are allocated on a first come first served basis. We can host groups of up to 30 pupils at any one time.

The Galleries are wheelchair accessible. If you would like to request assistance, or discuss access, please get in touch. To share feedback, subscribe for updates, or for any questions you may have, please email our Engagement Producer, Adrianna Whittingham.
