GRAVITAS: Somatic Movement Workshop

GRAVITAS: Somatic Movement Workshop

Breathing Space StudioAberdeen, Aberdeen City
Sunday, Feb 22 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm GMT
Overview

An embodied inquiry into gravity and momentum, through eco-somatic and contemporary lenses.

GRAVITAS: Falling to Rise

Open Level Workshop - no previous experience needed.

✨An embodied inquiry into our relationship with larger FORCES and the inevitable CHANGE that it brings.

✨Exploring our felt-sense experience of GRAVITY and MOMENTUM with through eco somatic and contemporary lenses with free movement; to fall, recover, release, shift, propel, float, fly, roll, spiral, rest, and rise.

🌀 The intention for this workshop is to build a solid foundation of embodied awareness as we reassemble ourselves from Winter’s dissolve, and to serve an antidote for the emotionally HEAVY times we are moving through collectively.

We will:

🪨 Play with weight and transitions; to let ourselves go, and find creative ways to get back up. There will be the invitation to practice inner listening whilst cultivating trust, finding flow, building resiliency and adopting adaptability as embodied qualities to carry with us into the good work we do in the world.

🪨 Explore how gravity shapes us, holds us, and connects us to Earth and each other as a practice of widening our awareness beyond our individual bodies, and sense gravity as a relational field we share with all Earth-based life.

🪨 Immerse in a felt-sense experience that creates empowering new neural pathways, which signals to the nervous system “we’ve got choice here” no matter what direction larger forces propel you/us/we.

In Roman culture, gravitas was one of the cardinal virtues —

a quality of substance, dignity, and moral weight.

To embody gravitas, means to hold a state of being that is grounded, clear-minded, and connected to one’s inner-authority. Someone with gravitas holds a strong presence, depth of character, and cannot be easily swayed from their core beliefs, and values.

When we embody gravitas we hold dignity in our leadership; a quality of inner fortitude, integrity and accountability motivated beyond one’s own benefit.
