Come along and share a picnic and a discussion about can connecting with nature through creativity.
Greening Creativity
There is something quietly happening at the Peace Orchard in Coventry, not announced or fixed, but felt in the spaces between arrival , creating and conversation.
The orchard was created by my father, Dennis Davison, rooted in peace and memory, in the simple act of planting something that would last beyond him. What has grown here carries that intention but does not stay contained within it.
Because this is not only about the orchard, it is about being part of a wider movement that is slowly finding its way, where people are stepping outside, into parks, into green edges, into shared public spaces, and rediscovering creativity not as something formal, but as something lived.
There is a growing recognition that creativity and nature are not separate from health, but part of it, which is why Creative Health Week matters, as it brings into focus the idea that wellbeing is shaped not just in systems, but in the everyday spaces where people gather, notice and connect.
This is what we mean by greening creativity - its a way of engaging that is not confined to buildings or institutions, but unfolds outdoors, through simple human acts, through making, walking, talking, remembering, and through looking at nature not just as background, but through a creative lens.
At the Peace Orchard, we create the conditions for this to happen, gently and without expectation, so people can arrive as they are and find their own way into the space, and from there something begins to unfold, a conversation, a shared moment, a quiet shift, a sense of ease.
What we are seeing is that people do not need to be taught how to do this, they already know, and given the right environment it returns, naturally and without force, bringing with it a sense of connection that is both simple and profound.
This is where it becomes about creative health, not as a programme or an intervention, but as something more fundamental, where being outdoors, being part of something, and being able to express and connect begins to support wellbeing in ways that are felt rather than measured.
The orchard holds one version of this, but it also points outward, towards a reimagining of public space, where small, grassroots, creative activity becomes part of everyday life, and where people begin to see these spaces differently, as places to gather, to make, to notice, and to belong.
We are not leading this movement, we are part of it, learning as we go, listening, making space, and finding our way alongside others who are exploring similar paths.
As part of Creative Health Week, we are inviting people to join us outdoors at the Peace Orchard on 23rd May for a shared conversation about green creativity, public space and what this could become, and to spend some time together, simply, in the orchard, with a picnic and the possibility of something unfolding.
