Event description

Description

Power Trip: Fracking in the UK takes you onto the frontlines of UK resistance in the battle to stop the controversial energy extraction process known as Fracking.

The film follows grandmothers who set up a campaign group (Lancashire Nanas ) and teamed up with young activists (Reclaim the Power) to shut down the Fracking sites of Cuadrilla near Blackpool (Lancashire) and Balcombe (West Sussex) by occupying trucks and blocking gates.

After the film we will hear from Paul O'Connor and Zoe Boughton, who made the film, and some of the people involved in the protests directly, including the Greenpeace team which locked on to the gates of Cuadrilla's site, and then successfully defended themselves in court and were found not guilty.

The event is free, and there will be drinks and light refreshments.
