About this event
- Event lasts 3 hours
We all experience grief and we all experience it in different ways. Sometimes it is so hard to explain and to understand for ourselves and then explaining to others is so tricky. It can be so overwhelming and confusing. This workshop is a time to come together for an afternoon to look at the words that capture and express your feelings . In a gentle kind supportive space ,as a small group thorugh the written word and our stories we shall explore grief, love and loss and all that happens on the way.
It is a guided workshop for anyone who has experienced loss, all you need to bring is yourself and your thoughts, maybe a notebook and maybe your favourite pen . Through gentle guided steps we shall wriite and talk together. it is a place to be heard a soft landing in a world that can feel upside down.
A little about me :
I was born and raised in rural somerset England . A person who sought wild spaces. At the age of 16 I wanted to work with people who were at the end of life or whose lives were affected by loss . Steps later after a btec in social care . A degree in drama . A year volunteering in India . Some amazing other adventures including a story telling festival in Slovenia. A Community project in Egypt . I trained as a drama therapist, i worked in prison using theatre . Life moved from London to Bristol. Setting up a project for children whose parents mis-used substances. The world changed again and I found myself in Belfast. Setting up an award winning project for children whose parents had cancer within a large cancer charity. Winning women of the year, family service of the year and speaking at conferences in Italy - Dublin . Completing a tedx talk writing papers with university of Ulster . And all the time climbing mountains paddling great rivers seeking wild spaces and being mum and along the way experinced some heart breaking loss. Qualifying as a funeral celebrant in 2017 . Taking the leep into being a consultant and running my own practice . Taking life in all its beauty and ugliness too,and supporting others through creativity to tell their story find that vulnerability and to create connection.
